PUMPKIN SPICE
I've been working in contrasts lately, so with this painting I wanted to focus on the contrast between being outside on a snowy day and coming inside to a warm cozy chair.
The original name for this painting was “Snow Days” but as I think about it I’m drawn to the “frost” across the orange chair and blanket. I’m reminded of chilly October mornings in Alabama and my father coming in for breakfast saying, “The frost is on the pumpkin!” 🎃 When I felt inspired to add our calico cat, the name of the painting became "Pumpkin Spice".
There’s also a hint of a beautiful October blue sky in the floor color.
*This is a continuation of my "Friendly Conversations" series in which I'm seeking to create mood or emotions associated with sitting in a chair using colors and marks.
